INYO COUNTY ANNOUNCES AN OPEN RECRUITMENT FOR:

FAMILY NURSE-PRACTITIONER

LOCATION: Bishop, CA, with travel to clinics throughout Inyo County
SALARY:

$40.45 per hour - 24 hours/week
with prorated medical, sick leave, and vacation

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES : A Registered Nurse possessing a certificate of completion from an NLN accredited Nurse-Practitioner program. In collaboration with the County Health Officer, Nurse-Practitioner will be responsible for the delivery of primary health care; obtain histories, perform examinations, make assessments, and develop treatment plans utilizing standardized procedures and protocols. The Nurse Practitioner with a “furnishing number”, as defined in the Nurse Practice Act, Sections 2746.51 7 2836.1, may write an order for medications and devices which are specified in the standardized procedure. Areas of responsibility include, but not limited to, the following:

Family Planning : Provides care to male and female clients seeking contraceptive information; performs gynecologic examinations to include PAP smears and breast examinations, correlating history, physicals, and laboratory data to select and implement the appropriate contraceptive methods for the client; utilizes appropriate communication skills and counseling techniques specific to family planning and human sexuality.

Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) : Knowledgeable of normal physical, mental, and emotional developmental milestones, from infancy through 21 years of age and performs health assessments as outlined by the periodicity schedule.

General Clinic : Provides health care and treatment management to clients presenting with common or relatively stable illnesses; regularly consults with the Health Officer regarding the management of the clients presenting with multiple or more complicated health problems; performs routine physical examinations such as: Sports and Class II driver’s license.

Communicable Disease Control : Possesses a public health background in order to assist the public health nurses with the development of treatment plans and epidemiological follow-up.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

Must possess a current California Registered Nurse License, California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) Nurse-Practitioner Certificate, and valid California driver’s license. Must have proof of Rubella and Hepatitis B immunization. Possession of California BRN certified Nurse-Practitioner Furnishing Number preferred. American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) certified preferred.

Special requirements : Must successfully complete a pre-employment background investigation and physical examination, including drug screen.

NEPOTISM POLICY : A copy of Inyo County Personnel Rules and Regulations, Section 107, is available upon request.

SELECTION : Selection procedures will be determined by the number and qualifications of applicants and will include a qualification screening and oral interview.

Additionally, the County of Inyo has work sites located in Mono County. Positions are assigned to a work site based upon the needs of the County. Positions may be temporarily or permanently reassigned to another work site as deemed necessary by the Department Head.
